Welcome to Gwinnett Radiation Oncology

Gwinnett Radiation Oncology was founded in 2009. At Gwinnett Radiation Oncology (GRO), we strive to provide the highest standards and quality of care for a person who is undergoing radiation therapy. GRO, which is a Vantage Oncology affiliate, you can find state-of–the-art technology, experienced and compassionate nurses, radiation therapists and physicists who work with physicians to care for people who need radiation therapy as part of their cancer management.

We are committed to treating our patients with a secure, stable and compassionate environment of hope, understanding and support. Our team offers superior cancer therapy and continuous quality improvement and high professional standards given by caring and qualified personnel. We offer a casual, friendly and comfortable atmosphere along with ongoing communication with designated caregivers and your physicians. Additionally, we offer integrative oncology services to our patients that include nutritional counseling and Life After Cancer programs.

Radiation Oncology

Leela Maxa, MD is a board certified Radiation Oncologist. Vantage Oncology and its affiliate, Gwinnett Radiation Oncology takes great pride in being a leader in providing personalized cancer care in a community setting. Quality care, close to your home.

Dr. Maxa graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelors of Science degree and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham – Medical School. After finishing her residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she completed additional training in Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.

She is married to John Maxa Jr., MD and they have two children.
